Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Ophthalmic Technician to join our team at UCHealth. As a Senior Ophthalmic Technician for Oculoplastics, you will play a critical role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our oculoplastic service line providers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with Patient Care: Under the direct supervision of a provider, assist with performing patient care in clinic and procedure room settings.
  • Flow of Patient Care: Assist with the flow of patient care in clinic and procedural areas, demonstrating advanced proficiency in performing ophthalmic core competencies, aseptic technique, and surgical assisting.
  • Liaison and Communication: Serve as a liaison between the Oculoplastic clinic, other divisions within Ophthalmology, satellite clinics, other departments within UCHealth, and outside referring physicians to ensure efficient patient care.
  • Clinical Assignments: Perform clinical assignments, procedural assignments, and additional duties delegated by clinical supervisors.
  • Scheduling and Coverage: Review clinic and procedure schedules for assignments and coverage, reporting any discrepancies to the clinical coordinator and/or clinical supervisor.
  • Minor Procedures: Assist with minor procedures in clinic and procedure room cases, complying with clean and aseptic techniques.
  • Medical Instrument Care: Ensure proper care and usage of medical instruments in both clinical area and procedural area.
  • Staff Resource and Mentor: Serve as a staff resource and mentor, orienting, training, and educating students, staff, and residents.
  • Documentation and Education: Perform documentation, patient education, and enter charges.
  • Scheduling and Coordination: Assist in scheduling Oculoplastic patients for clinic appointments, procedures, and post-operative appointments.
Requirements
  • Education: High School diploma or GED, completion of UCHealth preceptor course.
  • Licensure/Certification: Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) or Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) or Certified Ophthalmic Medical Technologist (COMT) or National Contact Lens Examiner Certification (NCLEC) if performing as a contact lens technician. Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider.
  • Experience: 3 years sponsored on the job ophthalmic training, or ophthalmic internship.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience: 3+ years working with an Oculoplastic specialist.
