Shift Nurse Opportunity

The Prairie Recovery Center, a 30-bed co-gender residential substance abuse treatment facility, is seeking a skilled Shift Nurse to join our team. Located in Round Top, TX, our facility provides a peaceful and therapeutic environment for patients to recover from addiction and mental health issues.

Job Summary

The Shift Nurse will be responsible for assisting and supporting residents through the entire treatment experience, from admission to discharge. This includes communicating observations and insights to the treatment team to ensure comprehensive care for each client.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in maintaining a safe and therapeutic environment for patients.
  • Assist patients with activities of daily living and establish good health through effective communication techniques.
  • Conduct detox intake, assessment, and direct patient supervision during the detox period.
  • Facilitate patients' participation in therapeutic activities and groups.
  • Implement crisis management skills as directed by licensed staff.
  • Complete H&P upon admission for each client.
  • Develop and initiate the Nursing Care Plan.
  • Facilitate therapeutic groups.
  • Provide clear and complete client documentation.
  • Maintain medication logs, including controlled substance logs.
  • Meet regularly with medical staff to discuss client treatment.
  • Provide assessments of medical problems as needed.
  • Assess and triage medical and mental health emergencies.
  • Consult with the physician and psychiatrist to ensure appropriate medical interventions.
  • Meet with each client, complete a daily assessment, and administer all prescription medication.
  • Carry out orders received, including medication administration, from the physician and psychiatrist, and report information to the Program Director and Facility.
  • Understand the therapeutic process and confidentiality laws, and have strong knowledge of professional ethics.
  • Demonstrate leadership abilities, with an ability to communicate with persons from all educational and cultural backgrounds.
  • Demonstrate tact, initiative, resourcefulness, a professional manner, enthusiasm, and a non-judgmental attitude.

Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program.
  • Two years of experience preferred in an acute care adult behavioral health setting.
  • Active RN License in the State of Texas.
  • Completion of CPR. Preferred CARN certification (Certified Addiction Registered Nurse).
