Job Responsibilities

The selected candidate will be responsible for providing exceptional nursing care to patients in the Cardiovascular ICU. Key responsibilities include:

  • Delivering care to patients post-cardiac surgery.
  • Monitoring and interpreting EKG strips.
  • Performing essential procedures such as chest tube insertion and intubation.
Experience Requirements

Applicants must possess:

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in a Cardiovascular ICU environment.
  • Active California nursing license.
  • Experience with immediate post-operative cardiac care.
Work Schedule

This position involves:

  • 12-hour shifts starting at 6:45 AM.
  • Bedside reporting.
  • Opportunities for overtime and additional shifts.
  • Self-scheduling with schedules available 4 weeks in advance.
Unit Specific Information

The role requires flexibility as the nurse will float between the Medical ICU and Cardiac Surgery ICU. Essential details include:

  • Patient-to-nurse ratios of 1:1 to 2.
  • Charge Nurse responsibilities primarily focus on break relief.
  • Weekend and holiday rotations with core staff.
Additional Information

Before commencing the assignment, candidates must complete required modules, which typically take 3-4 hours. A Dysrhythmia Exam (Basic) is also necessary to be submitted upon acceptance.
