Transform Customer Service with AI and ML Expertise

At Chewy, we're committed to empowering pet parents to make informed decisions about their pets' needs. To achieve this mission, we're seeking an experienced Software Engineer III to lead the development of our customer service technology team's AI platform.

This high-profile position will have a significant impact across the entire business, influencing architecture direction, feature development, and implementation. As part of our strong engineering team, you'll collaborate with top engineers to evolve our architecture vision, design, develop, integrate, train, deliver, fine-tune, and support large-scale AI/LLM models.

About the Role
  • Participate in shaping the technical roadmap for all development at Chewy, working closely with the engineering team and partner teams.
  • Lead the design, development, integration, training, delivery, fine-tuning, and support of AI/ML models at scale.
  • Drive innovation through rapid prototyping and iterative development, exploring new technologies and techniques to enhance our AI capabilities.
  • Cultivate a culture of knowledge sharing and mentorship within the team, coaching and mentoring engineers to excel in their roles.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • 10+ years of experience in software development as a software engineer.
  • Strong background in building and designing ML application platforms at scale, with 3+ years of relevant experience.
  • Proven expertise in back-end Java development, with 3+ years of hands-on experience.
  • Experience with NLP (Natural Language Processing) and Generative AI, with 1+ year of practical application.
  • Strong understanding of Python programming language and its applications in AI/ML.
  • Familiarity with cloud & orchestration technologies, including AWS Services, Terraform, Jenkins, and similar tools.
  • Proficient in professional software engineering practices, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with experience in mentoring and educating peers.
Compensation and Benefits

We offer a competitive salary range for this position: $134,500 - $214,000. This compensation package is influenced by factors such as relevant experience, education, and work location. In addition to salary, we provide comprehensive benefits, including medical/Rx, vision, dental, life, disability, hospital indemnity, critical illness, and accident insurance.
