Patient Care Assistant Job Overview
The primary responsibility of a Patient Care Assistant (PCA) is to deliver routine daily nursing care and services to each assigned resident in accordance with their assessment and care plan, as well as directives from supervisory staff.
Focus on resident-centered care, including assistance with daily living activities such as:
Positioning, Transferring, and Restorative Care.
Mobility Assistance, Toileting, and Bathing.
Grooming:
Oral Hygiene, Shaving, and Nail Care.
Support during Meals.
Assistance with Dressing and Undressing.
Infection Control and Prevention.
Nutrition and Elimination Support.
Comfort Care and End-of-Life Support.
Respond to call lights promptly and efficiently.
Notify the assigned nurse of any changes in the resident's condition as soon as possible.
Document all incidents and observations during the shift accurately.
Collaborate effectively with all team members across the facility.
