Cloud Solutions Architects are responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining cloud infrastructures for our enterprise cloud platform, such as Azure, to adapt to the changing needs of the business. They exhibit expertise in various cloud computing models, including Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS), and Software as a Service (SaaS), as well as public, hybrid, and private cloud setups. These professionals create fully automated solutions utilizing infrastructure as code and CI/CD pipelines, ensuring that all automation patterns incorporate standardized security measures in collaboration with Information Security.

The Cloud Foundational Engineering team oversees the design, implementation, and configuration of Costco's Cloud Platform(s). It is crucial that the engineered solutions consider a multi-cloud environment and that requirements are meticulously gathered to ensure suitability during the design phase. The team employs best practices in infrastructure as code for implementation and configuration, maintaining a robust security posture, traceability, and consistency.

This role will involve collaboration with various teams within the organization to design, implement, and sustain cloud solutions for Costco's enterprise cloud platforms. The individual will serve as a Cloud Engineering subject matter expert, partnering with cloud consumers to deliver technical solutions. This position will also work closely with other Costco IT teams to ensure that DevSecOps principles are integrated into CI/CD pipelines and that the cloud foundation complies with updated security frameworks. The role demands real-world cloud engineering experience and will be part of a highly skilled, agile development and cloud team supporting all aspects of Costco IT.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate, design, implement, and support cloud solutions including IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS.
  • Design and maintain role-based access solutions for cloud resources.
  • Plan and implement cloud network configurations focusing on scalability and reliability.
  • Develop automated cloud solutions for logging, event detection, and policy enforcement.
  • Manage support requests with vendors and communicate updates to stakeholders.
  • Apply industry-standard vulnerability management tools in cloud environments.
  • Establish standards for the lifecycle management of cloud resources.
  • Collaborate with Engineering and Development teams to troubleshoot cloud platform issues.
  • Provide subject matter expertise to value streams regarding cloud application implementations.

Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of experience with enterprise infrastructure and software systems.
  • 3+ years of experience in creating Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools like Terraform and ARM.
  • 3+ years managing enterprise cloud platforms.
  • 3+ years implementing information security standards and compliance regulations.
  • Strong understanding of cloud networking and foundational engineering.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills and the ability to think critically through complex problems.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
