MRI Technologist

Covenant HealthCare is seeking a skilled MRI Technologist to join our team. As an MRI Technologist, you will be responsible for operating Magnetic Resonance Imaging equipment to produce and film scans of anatomical structures for diagnostic interpretation by a Radiologist.

- Have clinical contact with patients in all age groups and assess, care for and treat them according to age-appropriate care guidelines.
- Prepare patients for procedures, providing instructions to obtain desired results, gain cooperation, and minimize anxiety.
- Select proper technical factors and operate equipment and accessories as directed.
- Position patients and equipment to best demonstrate the anatomic area of interest, respecting patient ability and comfort.
- Assess, plan, provide intervention and evaluate care for each patient based on their ages to avoid unnecessary radiation exposure.
- Obtain and verify patient's clinical history, ensuring that information is documented and readily available to the interpreting physician in an accurate and timely manner.
- Prepare and administer contrast media per department protocol.
- Perform MRI scans on patients following established department protocol/procedure.
- Evaluate images and data for technical quality, manipulate display parameters assuring proper identification is evident.
- Determine necessity for further imaging based on gross findings; initiate additional scans as required for final interpretation by Radiologists.
- Perform a variety of post-processing applications on MRI data sets.
- Use RIS (radiology information system) to update scheduling and billing records.
- Maintain flexibility to ensure department workload consistency.
- Demonstrate knowledge of MR safety, hospital safety and infection control policies and procedures, maintaining a safe and clean environment.
- Maintain the professional competence, knowledge, and skills necessary for the satisfactory performance of all assigned responsibilities.
- Complete required continuous training and education, including department-specific requirements.
- Preserve patients' privacy and maintain confidentiality of patients' information.
- Ensure that services are provided in accordance with state and Federal regulations, organizational policy, and accreditation/compliance requirements.
- Anticipate customer needs and provide services to all customers, including patients, physicians, hospital departments, and staff.
- Coordinate requests for services, information, records, and data on a timely basis.
- Research and resolve problems.
- Ensure that patients, their families, visitors, and employees are treated with kindness and respect.
- Demonstrate teamwork and integrity in all work-related activities.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the organization.
- Attend mandatory internal and external meetings and in-services as required.
- Maintain proficiency in all computer functionality necessary to perform job duties (RIS, PACS, QC, email, etc.).
- Perform other duties as assigned.
