About the Position

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced veterinary medicine professional to join our team as an Assistant Professor of Veterinary Practice at Texas Tech University. This is a full-time, 12-month, academic appointment with opportunities for tenure or non-tenure track.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide oversight and support for the day-to-day treatment and care of TTU SVM-owned animals, working closely with TTU SVM personnel on implementing therapeutic plans.
  • Collaborate with TTU SVM personnel on the development of Animal Use Protocols and maintain medical records of TTU SVM- or client-owned animals.
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOP) for the use of animals in instruction and scholarship, and serve as the TTU SVM point of contact for DEA controlled substances used in instructional and clinically-relevant scholarship activities.
  • Provide periodic training for students, veterinary technicians, and animal caretakers on the care of animals housed at the TTU SVM.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Contribute to activities necessary for accreditation from the American Veterinary Medical Association Council on Education, and other regulatory or accreditation approvals.
  • Participate on the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee and the TTU SVM Veterinary Clinical Studies Committee.
Requirements
  • DVM (or equivalent) degree is required, with experience in veterinary medicine.
  • Licensure or ability to be licensed in the state of Texas is required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Candidates with a successful track record in veterinary clinical medicine.
  • Candidates with experience working with diverse student populations.
  • Candidates with subject-matter expertise in a relevant area of veterinary medicine.
