Job Overview

Ryder is a leading logistics and transportation company that values innovation, safety, and customer satisfaction. We are seeking an experienced Diesel Mechanic Technician in Charge to join our team in Cedar Falls, Iowa.

Compensation Package

The selected candidate will receive a competitive salary of $37.00 per hour, paid weekly. In addition, they will be eligible for various bonuses, including certification bonuses of up to $700 and quarterly bonuses of up to $500 every quarter. The sign-on bonus totals $5,000, with $2,500 paid at 30 days and $2,500 paid at 90 days.

Responsibilities

The Technician in Charge will be responsible for assisting and training technicians as needed, providing excellent customer service, and giving feedback to the Service Manager on employee performance. They will also oversee parts distribution, inventory management, warranty recovery, unit tracking, payroll administration, and other duties assigned by the Supervisor/Manager.

Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, candidates must possess:

  • A minimum of 4 years of relevant work experience in diesel engine repair
  • Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair, including routine preventative maintenance, diagnostics, and advanced skilled level repairs
  • Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) CLASS A preferred
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, including shift work, weekends, holidays, and on-call rotations for roadside assistance
  • Proficiency in SMO, SBT, payroll system, warranty recovery, and employee handbook

This position requires driving Ryder vehicles and obtaining a CDL within 6 months after hire. Candidates must pass a Ryder drug test, DOT physical, Ryder road test, and Ryder background and motor vehicle check.
