JOB SUMMARY:

The Gourmet Food Associate is responsible for preparing high-quality food items to serve customers at the Deli Counter and restocking the grab-and-go cooler.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Welcome and assist customers with their sandwich selections made to order.
  • Prepare pre-made sandwiches and replenish the Grab and Go cooler.
  • Slice, package, price, and stock meats for the Grab and Go cooler.
  • Prepare and serve fresh smoothies as requested by customers.
  • Offer samples and suggestions to assist customers in their product choices.
  • Maintain informational boards within the department.
  • Relay customer feedback, suggestions, and complaints to the Prepared Foods Manager.
  • Ensure Deli display cases are well-stocked to create a sense of abundance for customers.
  • Maintain the freshness of deli items by rotating inventory and keeping product batches organized by date.
  • Ensure proper labeling of all product descriptions, prices, and ingredients as assigned.
  • Assist with catering orders as needed.
  • Remove soon-to-expire, slow-moving, or low-quality items from shelves; document and dispose of them according to company policy.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the Deli counter, display cases, and food preparation areas in compliance with health regulations.
  • Prepare food items in advance for sandwich and smoothie production as per established prep lists.
  • Follow daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning schedules as directed by the Deli Lead.
  • Promptly remove trash and perform sweeping and mopping as part of opening and closing duties.
  • Adhere to safety, storage, and labeling procedures when handling or storing products.
  • Notify the Prepared Foods Manager of any equipment repair or replacement needs.
  • Participate in periodic inventory assessments.
  • Complete established opening and closing procedures.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Experience preferred but not mandatory.
  • Bilingual (Spanish) preferred but not mandatory.
  • Ability to reason and apply logic to resolve common workplace issues.
  • Must pass a local/state/federal background screening.
  • Eligible to work in the USA.
  • Availability to work holidays, evenings, and weekends.
  • Obtain a safe food handling certificate and be capable of training other staff in appropriate procedures.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, along with good listening abilities and a willingness to ask questions for better understanding.
  • Ability to stand, bend, reach, and lift repeatedly for extended periods.
  • Ability to work in varying kitchen temperatures.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work with cleaning supplies and chemicals while using appropriate protective gear.
  • Ability to multitask and remain flexible to the changing needs of the business.
