Job Summary

The Psychiatric Technician Trainee will assist with patient care activities and tasks for psychiatric patients under the supervision of senior-level nursing staff. This role requires maintaining a therapeutic and safe environment under the direction of licensed staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with inpatient non-skilled nursing for psychiatric patients with collaboration of a preceptor/designee
  • Operate equipment such as IVAC, Sphygmomanometer, and Scale
  • Assist patients with activities of daily living
  • Interact with patients in a therapeutic manner
  • Participate in implementing and formulating patients' treatment plans with collaboration of a preceptor/designee
  • Assist with maintenance of a therapeutic milieu
  • Assist with patients' groups and participation in therapeutic activities
  • Participate in crisis management skills as directed by licensed staff
  • Assist with restraint of an adult, adolescent, or pediatric patient within guidelines currently in use at HCPC
  • Monitor patients, document observations, and report observations to licensed staff with guidance of a preceptor
  • Assist staff during environmental rounds on unit for safety
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • No prior experience required
  • Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects
