The Sterile Processing Technician plays a crucial role in the processing of decontaminated medical instruments, adhering to established protocols, manufacturer instructions, and industry best practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Receive and process instruments from the decontamination area efficiently.
  • Conduct routine cleaning and maintenance of the workspace, including instrument rooms and cabinets, and manage biohazard waste.
  • Execute sterilization procedures and ensure high-level disinfection.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned, encompassing essential tasks within the instrument room.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent – Mandatory
  • Certification Required: CRCST - Certified Registered Central Service Technician from the International Association of Healthcare Central Service Material Management or Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician from The Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution.
  • A minimum of four years of experience in a hospital Sterile Processing environment – Essential
  • Completion of a Sterile Processing Technician training program – Essential
  • Familiarity with a diverse range of surgical instruments utilized in operating rooms and throughout the healthcare facility.
  • Proficient in operating sterilization and processing equipment, capable of prioritizing tasks and working independently or collaboratively.

Position Details:

  • Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 2:30 PM - 11:00 PM with rotating weekends (involves rotation among four sterile processing departments)
  • Compensation: Starting at $24/hour, commensurate with experience
  • Benefits: Comprehensive healthcare, dental, vision, and 401k program.
