Job Purpose
The primary responsibility of the Trailer Maintenance Technician is to assess malfunctions and execute repairs, rebuilds, and maintenance on 53' trailers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct regular maintenance and safety inspections on 53' trailers utilized for transportation on public highways.
  • Immediately report any unsafe equipment or working conditions to the Lead Mechanic or management.
  • Ensure all equipment operates smoothly and complies with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Uphold the safety of employees, the public, and customers by adhering to FMCSA regulations and company policies regarding inspections, repairs, and maintenance.
  • Maintain accurate records of service repairs and parts replacements.
  • Collaborate with the Lead Mechanic to adhere to maintenance and inspection schedules.
  • Project a professional and courteous company image through effective communication.
  • Follow all safety protocols and FMCSA regulations diligently.
  • Keep track of supplies used for maintaining the corporate fleet.
  • Perform regular servicing, repairs, and inspections of trailers as outlined by maintenance schedules and FMCSA regulations, whether in the field or at a designated location.
  • Utilize hand tools and power tools, including welding equipment and jacks, for repair tasks.

Secondary Responsibilities
  • Assist the Lead Mechanic with various tasks related to fleet maintenance, which may include changing tires, inspecting brakes, conducting routine maintenance, and addressing heating and cooling issues.

Qualifications
  • A minimum of 1 year of relevant work experience is required; certification is a plus.

This is a full-time position, typically working Monday through Friday, with Saturday availability as needed. The ideal start time is early morning, and overtime may be required.
