Position Overview

Role Summary:

The da Vinci system represents a groundbreaking advancement in human-machine interaction, integrating various technologies into a cohesive product experience. The Interaction Software Engineering team operates across multiple technical domains to develop solutions that ensure a safe, intuitive, and confidence-inspiring experience for users of complex surgical devices.

Our team collaborates closely within a cross-functional environment to design and implement the graphical user interface for both current and future robotic systems in the da Vinci product line. We are dedicated to creating both functional and aesthetically pleasing digital interfaces, leveraging our expertise across a wide array of development platforms. The ideal candidate is a self-sufficient and agile developer with exceptional problem-solving abilities, capable of delivering high-quality, robust code amidst evolving requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create exceptional digital interfaces: Design and develop intuitive interfaces for the da Vinci product line utilizing Qt and other tools in an embedded C/C++ environment, ensuring high development standards from initial prototypes to final production.
  • Implement product visual language: Collaborate with interaction and visual designers to craft visually appealing and functional interfaces.
  • Contribute to system and software architecture: Partner with engineering colleagues to define the architecture and select tools for system graphical interfaces.
  • Explore innovative user interface technologies: Work alongside platform software, mechanical, and electrical engineers to investigate new user interface technologies, rapidly prototyping to evaluate feasibility and value.
Qualifications

Required Skills:

  • Minimum Bachelor's or Master's degree in Software, Electrical, or Computer Engineering preferred.
  • 8-10 years of industry experience in developing and supporting digital interfaces.
  • Proven experience across multiple phases of the product development lifecycle, including design, implementation, debugging, verification, and maintenance.
  • Proficient in object-oriented programming with C/C++.
  • Experience with GUI development frameworks; familiarity with Qt is preferred.
  • Knowledge of scripting in Python is advantageous.
  • Experience in embedded software development is a plus.
  • Familiarity with 3D graphics frameworks (OpenGL, Vulkan, etc.) is beneficial.
  • A strong commitment to delivering an exceptional user experience.
