Work Schedule:
Full Time, Varied shifts
Your Role in Clinical Patient Care:
Under the guidance of the RN, Physician, or Advanced Practice Provider, you will:
- Insert peripheral IVs and manage IV fluid administration without medication.
- Monitor and document the condition of infusion sites.
- Initiate and maintain oxygen therapy protocols.
- Perform 12-lead EKGs and cardiac monitoring, identifying dysrhythmias.
- Administer suctioning during patient transport.
- Follow CDC isolation guidelines and utilize PPE appropriately.
As a customer service advocate, you will employ the ICARE principles (Introduce, Connect, Anticipate, Reinforce, End) to keep patients informed, provide updates, and ensure their comfort and care needs are met promptly.
Administrative Responsibilities:
You will also manage phone communications, maintain accurate status updates on your work-issued device, and perform precise order entries as necessary.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience Required:
- Completion of a paramedic program
- One year of experience in emergency services, hospital settings, or equivalent
- Training in Ventricular Assist Device (VAD), Epidural Catheter, Sheath, and Temporary Pacemaker
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate of Science (AS) degree in EMS or Fire Science
- Completion of a critical care paramedic program
- ICU training, including shadowing ICU RNs
Licensure, Certification, or Registration Required:
- Current, valid State of Florida Paramedic license
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification
Job Summary:
The Emergency Medical Transport Specialist provides patient care under the direction of the charge nurse, assistant nurse manager, or physician. This role encompasses both clinical and non-clinical duties essential for the efficient operation of the nursing unit, adhering to the organization's philosophy, goals, policies, and procedures. You will actively engage in exceptional customer service and uphold respectful relationships with all individuals.
