About the Job

Ryder is seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic Technician to join our team in a permanent, full-time capacity. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for performing routine preventative maintenance, diagnosing and repairing mechanical and electronic issues, and ensuring our fleet of heavy-duty vehicles is in top condition.

Responsibilities
  • Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties, including routine preventative maintenance and diagnostic repairs
  • Inspect and repair standard vehicle components, including brakes, tires, and engines
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical and electronic issues, utilizing diagnostic computer systems as needed
  • Identify root causes of basic failures and perform repairs as required
  • Replace defective components as instructed
  • Perform facility maintenance duties, including cleaning and organization of the shop
  • Interact with customers and drivers to determine the nature of complaints and assign tasks
  • Utilize key functions of the Shop Management System and electronic documentation
  • Work in accordance with all federal, provincial, and corporate compliance guidelines, including safety, DOT, and MOT regulations
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Vocational or technical certification, post-secondary degree, or technical certifications preferred
  • Basic tools required
  • Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including routine preventative maintenance
  • Two years or more of a combination of classroom training and work experience in required experience, preferred
  • Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A, preferred
