Housing Specialist

The Osborne Association is seeking a Housing Specialist to join our team at the Fulton Community Reentry Center. As a Housing Specialist, you will play a critical role in collaborating with Case Managers and clients to secure permanent housing. This is a full-time position that requires a strong understanding of housing laws, building codes, and lease agreements.
Key Responsibilities- Establish and maintain working relationships with landlords and management companies to secure housing for clients.
- Create and maintain a liaison with the DHS Housing Placement Unit to ensure compliance with housing laws and regulations.
- Oversee landlord and management company compliance with established housing laws, building codes, and lease agreements.
- Work with Case Management to identify potential clients who are housing ready and resolve crises or conflicts with landlords and management relationships.
- Develop and maintain a database of available housing options and work towards identifying new housing opportunities for clients through ongoing networks.
- Prepare and/or coordinate reports related to housing codes and compliance.
- Inform Case Management staff of unit readiness and/or problems with client maintaining units.
- Prepare housing packages and collaborate with Case Management staff on the preparation of psycho-social applications and access of needed documents.
- High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma required.
- Work experience in NYC Housing programs, housing resources, negotiating lease agreements with landlords and/or realtor management companies providing housing for special needs populations.
- Knowledge of applicable state and city housing and disability laws and codes is essential.
- Prior experiences using HOME, CARES, etc. databases.
- Must possess a valid driver's license.
The Osborne Association offers a competitive salary range of $27.47-$28.85 hourly, four weeks of vacation, tuition reimbursement, flexible work schedule, excellent Medical, Dental, and Vision insurance, and a 403(b) plan with a company match.
