Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Nuclear Medicine Technologist to join our team at UnityPoint Health. As a Nuclear Medicine Technologist, you will be responsible for performing professional duties in the application of Nuclear Medicine services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Job Performance
    • Prepare patients for procedures and administer radioactive materials with competency.
    • Perform all prescribed Nuclear Medicine procedures efficiently and accurately.
    • Work independently and critique exams with good judgment.
    • Plan effectively and solve problems with a focus on radiation safety.
    • Store and transfer exams with competency.
    • Demonstrate annual competency in handling, storage, and transfer of radiopharmaceuticals.
  • Patient Care
    • Provide patient education and ensure correct consent forms are signed.
    • Administer age-appropriate care with competence.
    • Obtain and record adequate patient history and interpret physician's orders correctly.
    • Order, track, and charge exams in a timely fashion.
  • Quality Improvement
    • Ensure equipment is in proper working order and perform quality control testing.
    • Log technical information, complete reports, and surveys, and comply with regulatory agencies.
    • Document appropriately in NMIS.
    • Complete Occurrence Reports as needed.
    • Participate in hospital-wide Performance Improvement as needed.
Qualifications
  • Graduate of JRCERT-approved school for Nuclear Medicine and/or Radiologic Technology with equivalent training and experience as required by licensing bodies.
  • Hold a current license or conditional license from the State of Illinois Emergency Management Agency in Nuclear Medicine, and/or the Iowa Department of Public Health.
  • CPR certification required.
