Job Overview

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM

As a Metal Fabrication Specialist, you will be tasked with the assembly and disassembly of industrial-grade electrical switchgear, as well as the fabrication of custom enclosures and bus work according to client specifications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Set up, program, and operate metalworking machinery.
  • Manage materials and maintain an organized workspace.
  • Interpret technical drawings and schematics.
  • Engage in problem-solving activities.
  • Fabricate individual parts and manage low-volume production runs.
  • Assemble and disassemble electrical switchgear components.
  • Design and create custom enclosures and bus work based on customer requirements.
  • Develop prototypes and conduct product testing.
  • Perform cutting and welding of metal materials.
  • Select appropriate insulation and ensure proper installation over bus work.
  • Install and remove breakers in cubicles, ensuring correct interlock positions.
  • Other duties may be assigned as necessary.

Qualifications
  • Prior experience in fabrication or a related skilled trade is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Ability to read and utilize common measurement tools (e.g., tape measures, scales, calipers).
  • Possession of personal mechanics tools; specialty tools will be provided.
  • Detail-oriented with a strong focus on deadlines.
  • Ability to excel in a fast-paced environment, both independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to collaborate with shop technicians and engineering teams to create parts and structures.
  • Desire to learn and grow in the field.
  • Experience with welding is advantageous but not essential.

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to document and organize procedures logically.
  • Good time management skills; capable of multitasking.

  • Ability to work well both independently and in a team setting.
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.

Education & Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Preferred experience: 1 year in welding, construction, or electrical work.

Physical Requirements
  • Occasional activities include sitting, reaching overhead, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
  • Frequent walking and continuous standing with repetitive hand motions.
  • Regular overhead and ladder work.
  • Lifting requirements include frequent lifting of up to 50 lbs, frequent lifting of up to 25 lbs, and continuous lifting of up to 10 lbs.
