About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Senior Palliative Care Physician Assistant to join our team at Smilow Cancer Hospital in New Haven, Connecticut.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will provide exceptional direct diagnostic and therapeutic patient care to patients with cancer and other life-limiting illnesses. As part of a multidisciplinary team, you will cultivate a patient-centric environment that focuses on the whole individual, inclusive of physical, psychosocial, spiritual, and functional needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess, triage, and manage patient/family needs throughout the disease process as an integral part of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Provide optimal patient care, from diagnostic to prognostic matters, in collaboration with attending supervising/collaborating physicians.
  • Obtain medical histories, perform physical examinations, review/order diagnostic/therapeutic tests and radiologic results, formulate and manage patient treatment plans.
  • Prescribe treatment and medications in accordance with institutional and state guidelines.
  • Function as first or second assistant on operative cases, using fine motor skills and manual dexterity.

Requirements:

To be considered for this role, you must have:

  • Graduated from an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant Program.
  • Clinical working experience as a NP/PA within the given specialty/service line is preferred.
  • Active PA Certification by the National Commission of Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA), Connecticut State Physician Assistant License, ACLS/BLS Certified, DEA License, PALS Certification, and NRP Certification.
