Athletic Trainer

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Athletic Trainer to join our team at Ashe Memorial Hospital. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing medical coverage to Ashe County High School student athletes, including prevention and care of injuries, training and supervising sports medicine student assistants, and referring athletic injuries to physicians for diagnosis and/or treatment.

• Provide basic instruction to athletic staff members in the prevention and care of injuries
• Train and supervise sports medicine student assistants
• Refer athletic injuries to physicians for diagnosis and/or treatment
• Carry out appropriate instructions and treatment as directed by the athlete's physician
• Develop and supervise appropriate rehabilitation programs for athletes under the direction of the physician
• Assist and advise the athletic staff regarding conditioning programs and the selection, care, and fitting of protective equipment
• Determine if a player is capable of continued participation in a game and/or practice if the player is injured
• Responsible for the treatment and supervision of treatment for all athletic injuries and conditions
• Organize, inventory, and requisition all training room supplies with the advisement and approval of the athletic director
• Attend all school-sponsored home athletic events, as the various sports calendars will permit
• Coordinate an extension of sports medicine services when appropriate

• Bachelor's degree
• State licensure by NC Board of Athletic Trainer Examiners required
• Current BLS certification
• Previous experience preferred
• Ability and willingness to work with students in a Sports Medicine Program
