Job Summary

Brown University Athletics and Recreation is seeking a highly skilled and certified Lifeguard to ensure the safety and well-being of pool patrons. This seasonal position requires the ability to prevent and respond to emergencies, as well as demonstrate exemplary ethical conduct and conformance to NCAA rules and regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prevent and respond to emergencies in the pool area, using aquatic rescue equipment as needed.
  • Enforce facility rules and regulations consistently in a professional and customer service-oriented manner.
  • Provide care for breathing and cardiac emergencies, injuries, and sudden illnesses until Brown emergency services arrive.
  • Make quick decisions and take decisive action in emergency situations.
  • Support a diverse and inclusive environment, and possess leadership and public relations skills.
  • Be responsible, alert, dependable, and on time for scheduled shifts.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma/GED.
  • Current certification in American Red Cross Lifeguard/First Aid/CPR for the Professional Rescuer, or equivalent.
