Job Summary

The Critical Care Physician Assistant will deliver high-quality patient care in the ICU setting, utilizing strong clinical skills and knowledge to manage complex medical conditions. This role requires excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams to provide comprehensive patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Obtain and record patient history, perform physical and medical screening examinations, and complete diagnostic and therapeutic studies.
  • Order diagnostic laboratory tests, radiological studies, or other therapies as appropriate, and establish diagnostic decision-making and initiate a treatment plan.
  • Coordinate patient care with other members of the healthcare team, initiate consultation requests to other health professionals, and instruct and counsel patients regarding mental and physical health.
  • Manage patient flow in the ICU, perform procedures as allowed by state law and under the direction of the supervising or collaborating physician, and work within legal, regulatory, and ethical practice standards.
Requirements
  • Physician Assistant Certification and Registration & Licensure by the New Jersey State Board of Medical Examiners/Physician Assistant Advisory required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Life Support (ACLS) Certifications, PALS (if required).
  • Active membership in a professional organization preferred.
Knowledge and Skills
  • Medical and broad-based clinical emergency medicine knowledge.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent time management skills.
