About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Laborer/Groundman (Travel Crew) to join our team at MasTec Communications Group. As a key member of our construction team, you will be responsible for providing general labor support for aerial and underground construction projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide general labor support for construction projects, including digging trenches, unloading building materials, and preparing job sites.
  • Conduct manual tasks such as excavation, material handling, and equipment operation.
  • Support the placement of conduit and other materials as directed by supervisors.
  • Participate in map reading and directions to ensure accurate project execution.
  • Assist with trench digging and closing, as well as the movement of materials and vehicles.
  • Perform maintenance services, including cleanup, vehicle washing, and landscaping.
  • Operate various equipment, including trucks, trailers, and other machinery, as certified and directed.
  • Troubleshoot RF and Fiber line and equipment issues.
  • Construct and repair underground RF and Fiber service.
  • Learn to read and construct from design schematics and maps.
  • Develop knowledge of inventory and equipment required for projects.
  • As applicable, learn and become certified on the use of specialized equipment, such as line trucks, bucket trucks, and cable reel equipment.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 70 pounds.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to read and understand maps, drawings, and diagrams.
  • Practical working experience in overhead construction for both RF and Fiber.
  • Knowledge of overhead bill of materials and related codes.
  • Extensive knowledge of network architecture and design for both RF and Fiber networks.
  • Flagger certification for field work.
  • Excellent verbal, written, phone, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume work environment.
