Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Systems Engineer to join our team at General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems (GD-OTS). As a Principal Systems Engineer, you will play a key role in leading the development of precision guidance technologies and working with internal and external stakeholders to develop and maintain system and subsystem architectural models.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, and maintain system and subsystem architectural models
  • Perform Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC) simulation and define requirements and verification methods
  • Manage risk for guided munition programs and collaborate with program managers and technical leads to balance technical scope with cost, schedule, resources, and risk
  • Recommend system engineering tools, define processes, and lead continuous improvement activities using a Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) approach
  • Support business development in drafting proposals and collaborate on internal research and development strategy

Requirements:

  • Associate's Degree in general Engineering or specialized Engineering
  • 8-10 years experience in an engineering function
  • Expertise with Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) using SysML tools such as Cameo for modeling of system and subsystem architectures, requirements development, verification planning, failure modes and effects analysis (FMEA), and functional hazard analysis (FHA)
  • Experience in a technical leadership role providing oversight to subcontractors, engaging directly with customers, and mentoring engineers
  • Direct experience working with Electrical, Software, Mechanical, and Test & Integration engineers to develop system and subsystem product solutions

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Physics
  • Experience in Systems Engineering, preferably in early lifecycle technology development in the Aerospace or Defense industry
