Sailing Coach

Job Summary:

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Sailing Coach to join our team at the Boy Scouts of America. As a Sailing Coach, you will be responsible for implementing programs in conjunction with the Program Director and BSA program standards.

About the Role:

The ideal candidate will have experience in teaching sailing techniques, customer service, classroom instruction, curriculum development, class/activity planning, and classroom behavior management. You must be certified in CPR and First Aid, and attain your CA Boater's Card upon being hired.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and deliver engaging lesson plans/activities to youth in a well-planned and fun manner.
• Write program curriculum for new and existing classes, ensuring a safe environment for all participants.
• Provide active supervision and ensure proper setup, usage, and clean-up of facilities, equipment, and docks.
• Report program/equipment concerns to supervisor immediately.
• Teach water, boating, and paddle craft safety to youth participants.
• Be a positive role model and mentor to youth participants and coworkers.
• Enforce student-discipline procedures according to Newport Sea Base policy.
• Communicate effectively with other program staff and Lead Coordinators.
• Participate in scheduled staff trainings throughout the year.
• Learn how to operate a Boston Whaler motorboat confidently.

Hours and Pay:

This is a part-time position, with maximum 10-20 hours per week available during the school year (September-May). The estimated salary for this role is $18-$22 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
