About the Role:

Leidos, a leading provider of innovative technology solutions, is seeking an experienced Network Engineering Lead to join our team. In this critical role, you will be responsible for overseeing the maintenance and support of a large-scale enterprise network, primarily built on Cisco technology.

Responsibilities:

  • Data Center Networks: Oversee the maintenance of virtual local area networks (VLANs), wide area networks (WANs), data center networks, wireless networks, and industrial control communications systems in alignment with service level agreements (SLAs).
  • Cisco Expertise: Deliver expertise in Cisco switching and routing to bolster data center networks and related applications.
  • Network Assessments: Assess the potential impacts of new network solutions and Trusted Internet Connection (TIC) networks and facilitate their transition into operational environments.
  • Monitoring Tools: Configure and enhance network monitoring tools, including ScienceLogic SL1, to yield high-fidelity alerts and visualizations for the network monitoring team.
  • Performance Metrics: Measure, oversee, and strategize network performance, usage, availability, capacity, and risks regarding network change requests.
  • Guidance and Mentorship: Provide both strategic and tactical guidance for enhancements and projects within Network Services, offer Tier 3 technical support, draft standard operating procedures, and mentor team members in operations.

Requirements:

  • Certifications: An active Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE) Routing and Switching certification with five (5) years of data center operational experience or an active Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) certification (Data Center, Enterprise, or Service Provider) with ten (10) years of experience.
  • Knowledge and Skills: In-depth knowledge of Layer 2 and Layer 3 frameworks and protocols, familiarity with formal change management processes using ITSM platforms such as ServiceNow, experience in supporting complex enterprise VLAN architectures and applying Zero Trust principles.
  • Education and Experience: Understanding of IT service management best practices for network operations catering to a large user base, experience designing and implementing data center networks utilizing Cisco Nexus switches, F5 appliances, and Palo Alto devices, proficiency in scripting languages and automation practices using infrastructure as code.
  • Communication Skills: Exceptional oral and written communication skills, capable of engaging with senior management and delivering contractual reports effectively.
