Job Title: Ophthalmic Technician

We are seeking a skilled Ophthalmic Technician to join our team at Brockton Hospital. As an Ophthalmic Technician, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and supporting our medical team.

Job Summary:

The Ophthalmic Technician will assist in the processing of patients by performing ophthalmic technical and administrative support services. This includes performing ophthalmic testing, calculating diagnostic data, and documenting patient history.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform ophthalmic testing, including tonometry, refractometry, OCT, visual fields, pachymetry, peritometry lensometry, auto refractions, fundus photography, and patient work-ups.
  • Calculate diagnostic data, including K readings, refraction, and visual fields.
  • Document patient history, perform visual acuity and glaucoma tests, and prepare instruments for in-office procedures.
  • Enter data into the EMR during patient work-ups and assist surgeons in the office during procedures.
  • Provide post-op progress reports to surgeons and monitor and maintain inventory of all medications, medical supplies, and printed material needed for the clinic.
  • Maintain and monitor clinic equipment and share responsibility for actively maintaining workload items for clinical and support buckets.
Requirements:
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Ophthalmic Technician with COA or COT certification preferred.
  • Previous Ophthalmic/Optometric experience preferred.
  • Certified MA or other applicable certification.
  • Proficiency in basic computer operating systems and technology.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and pharmacology ideal.
Work Environment:

This is a full-time 40 hour/week position at Brockton Hospital. The successful candidate will work under the direction of the Practice Manager and Lead Technician, with the physician's oversight.
