Job Summary

This position coordinates root cause and corrective action for the site and performs quality-related activities associated with the nonconforming material control process. The role is proactive in identifying and driving resolution to systemic issues and proposes performance improvements. They will evaluate procedures and work instructions, manage and approve documents that are required per the Quality Management System. Facilitates and represents Quality during internal/external audits.

Key Responsibilities:

The ideal candidate will perform quality engineering tasks associated with product assurance in support of new product introduction, current product, and manufacturing/test quality oversight. This includes reviewing and providing input for product quality planning including PFMEA analyses, quality hold points, manufacturing/test work instructions, nonconforming product dispositions, root cause corrective actions, and continuous improvement efforts for current production components and assemblies.

Some key duties include:
  • Developing product quality plans for new product introduction that include requirements for in-process inspections, internal and external quality hold points, FAIs, testing, etc.
  • Driving continuous improvement processes related to manufacturing processes.
  • Working with Manufacturing Engineering and Manufacturing to ensure that they understand requirements related to contract compliance, engineering documentation, FAI process, nonconformance process, RCCA process, workmanship standards, etc.
  • Managing production non-conformances and helping improve manufacturing quality to achieve customer quality metrics.
  • Leading on-site audits, evaluating prototypes, and reviewing and approving corrective actions.
  • Acting as an internal customer and management interface in resolving and managing internal customer quality issues and driving root cause and corrective action on manufacturing process and product quality issues.
  • Developing and deploying SPC initiatives.

Requirements

The successful candidate will have a Bachelors Degree in Mechanical or Quality Engineering or related technical field or equivalent experience and a minimum of 3 years of appropriate industry experience in quality, engineering, machine shop, assembly, or automotive production-related experience. They should be proficient with ISO Standards, 6 Sigma tools, Statistics, and able to read detailed drawings and understand industry and military specifications. Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, communication, writing, and computer skills are also essential.
