Job Summary:


The Commonwealth of Virginia is seeking a skilled Traffic Signal Technician to join their Traffic Engineering Maintenance team. This role involves performing traffic signal maintenance in accordance with established safety standards, VDOT policies, and operational standards.


Key Responsibilities:



  • Perform traffic signal repairs and maintenance
  • Conduct preventative maintenance and inspections of electronic devices and related equipment
  • Diagnose and repair electronic devices
  • Respond to emergency situations in an on-call capacity

Requirements:



  • Knowledge of traffic signal maintenance and operations
  • Ability to plan, coordinate, and prioritize multiple assignments
  • Valid driver's license
  • Knowledge of management systems, including timing plans and computer use
  • Ability to serve in an on-call capacity and respond to emergency situations
  • Ability to use hand tools and testing equipment
  • Ability to physically perform inspections and maintenance tasks
  • Knowledge of traffic control devices and signal equipment
  • Ability to provide good customer service
  • Effective communication skills

Additional Considerations:



  • Knowledge of applicable federal, state, and VDOT rules, regulations, and policies
  • IMSA Roadway Lighting certification
  • Commercial Driver's License
  • IMSA Traffic Signal Level I technician certification
