Position Overview

The Lead Grants Financial Analyst will play a crucial role in the Grants Financial Management department, which oversees post-award financial operations, compliance, monitoring, and reporting for various grants and contracts from federal, state, local, and private sources.

The primary objective of this position is to ensure adherence to grantor stipulations and to achieve exemplary audit outcomes.

Compensation
The starting salary for this role is $68,778.00, which is determined based on educational background and professional experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee and evaluate cash collection and grant receivable processes
  • Facilitate meetings with Project Directors to assess project finances, ensuring compliance and minimizing unspent funds and budget discrepancies
  • Serve as the primary contact for Project Directors and Grants Development staff regarding financial inquiries, including historical data and projections for specific grants and contracts
  • Assist in the preparation of year-end documentation for audits of restricted funds
  • Conduct research on grant regulations, contract stipulations, and institutional policies to effectively manage and monitor grants
  • Manage faculty time and effort reporting
  • Review the work of Grants Accountants and provide managerial support in the absence of the Grants Accounting Manager
  • Support sub-recipient monitoring efforts
  • Maintain a project task list to ensure timely completion of all tasks and reporting obligations
  • Review relevant financial aid general ledger accounts and prepare necessary journal entries
  • Assist with desk reviews and audits conducted by external agencies for restricted projects or grants
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related discipline is required
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience in an accounting role is required; experience in grant accounting is preferred
  • Strong oral and written communication skills are essential
  • Advanced computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel/Word/Outlook/etc.); experience with Ellucian Colleague is preferred
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational abilities are required
  • Capability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team is necessary
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail and meeting deadlines is essential
