About the Role: The City of Winter Park is seeking a highly motivated and organized Recreation Associate to join our team. As a key member of our Parks and Recreation Department, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service, promoting sales of merchandise and memberships, and supporting the operation of our assigned parks facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Customer Engagement: Provide outstanding service to patrons, promote memberships, activities, and merchandise through social media, customer service, and merchandise selection, display and placement.
  • Financial Management: Process transactions for sales of court fees, memberships, tournament participation, shop merchandise, and food and beverages; balance cash receipts; reconcile daily receipts and bank deposits.
  • Scheduling and Coordination: Coordinate and track court reservations, post tournament and membership information, maintain schedule board, and make and post announcements for special events.
  • Program Development: Assist in the planning and implementation of special events and recreational programs and activities.
  • Facility Maintenance: Perform inspections of facilities, check operation, condition, safety, sanitation, and security of equipment and facilities, open and close facilities, and maintain equipment inventory.
  • Administrative Support: Maintain cleanliness of facilities, including trash disposal, ensure adequate stocking of food and beverages, merchandise, and cleaning supplies, prepare course usage, attendance, revenue, and membership statistics and reports, and perform other work as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience: A minimum of 1 year of sales or administrative support experience, preferably in a recreational facility.
  • Skills: Ability to provide customer service, resolve customer inquiries, and complaints, ability to balance cash and check receipts, ability to learn and master various software programs, ability to work without direct supervision, ability to provide activities instruction to all ages, and ability to promote, market, and sell shop services and merchandise.
  • Physical Demands: Light work requiring the exertion of 0 - 20 pounds of force occasionally and 0 - 10 pounds of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, and reposition objects.

Estimated Salary: $45,000 - $65,000 per year, depending on experience.
