Behavioral Health Specialist

At The Guidance Center, we are seeking a skilled Social Worker to join our team in providing exceptional behavioral health services to individuals, families, and communities.
Job Summary:The successful candidate will be responsible for assessing and evaluating clients' behavioral health needs, developing and implementing treatment plans, and providing counseling and therapy services. Additionally, the Social Worker will work closely with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate care, connect clients with community resources, and advocate for their rights and needs.
Key Responsibilities:- Assessment and Evaluation: Conduct comprehensive assessments to determine clients' behavioral health needs, including psychological, social, and environmental factors.
- Counseling and Therapy: Provide individual, family, and group counseling to clients with behavioral health issues, utilizing evidence-based therapeutic techniques to promote positive change and emotional well-being.
- Case Management: Develop and coordinate individualized care plans for clients, collaborating with healthcare professionals, community agencies, and other stakeholders to ensure effective interventions.
- Crisis Intervention: Respond to and manage crisis situations, providing immediate support and intervention to stabilize clients in crisis and ensure their safety and well-being.
- Advocacy: Serve as an advocate for clients' rights and needs within the healthcare system and the community, collaborating with other professionals to address systemic barriers and promote access to quality behavioral health services.
- Resource Referral: Identify and connect clients with appropriate community resources, such as support groups, housing assistance, employment services, and financial aid, to assist them in navigating complex systems and accessing essential services and support networks.
- Education and Prevention: Develop and facilitate educational workshops, seminars, and training sessions on mental health, addiction, and behavioral health topics to promote prevention strategies and raise awareness about available resources and support.
- Documentation and Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records, progress notes, and treatment plans in accordance with legal and ethical standards, ensuring compliance with confidentiality regulations and data privacy guidelines.
- Professional Development: Stay informed about current trends, research, and best practices in the field of behavioral health, attending relevant workshops, conferences, and training sessions to enhance knowledge and skills.
- A master's degree in social work (MSW) or a related field.
- Licensure or certification as a social worker in the relevant jurisdiction.
- Strong knowledge of behavioral health theories, interventions, and evidence-based practices.
- Experience in assessing and diagnosing behavioral health disorders and formulating treatment plans.
- Proficient in crisis intervention techniques and risk assessment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective client engagement and collaboration with interdisciplinary teams.
- Ability to maintain professional boundaries, handle sensitive information, and adhere to ethical guidelines.
- Knowledge of community resources and referral networks related to mental health and behavioral health services.
- Familiarity with relevant legal and regulatory frameworks governing behavioral health practice.
- Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development and continuous learning.
