Job Summary:
The Patient Care Technician plays a vital role in the Emergency Department, providing compassionate and skilled care to patients in a fast-paced environment.
This position involves working collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team to assist with direct patient care, ensure efficient operations, and support patient safety and comfort.
The ideal candidate will have experience in a hospital setting, preferably as a nursing assistant, EMT, or physician office patient care experience.
- Perform EKGs with accuracy and in a timely manner
- Collect and label diagnostic specimens for laboratory processing following proper protocols
- Apply and secure splints or immobilizers to stabilize extremities as directed by a licensed provider
- Provide wound care, dressing changes, and other basic clinical interventions as trained and directed
- Safely lift, reposition, and transport patients using proper body mechanics and equipment
- Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including hygiene, ambulation, and nutritional support
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous hospital experience as a nursing assistant, EMT, or physician office patient care experience
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), Medical Assistant, or begun clinical rotations within a Registered Nursing (RN) program
- Current CPR certification
