Position Summary:
We are seeking a motivated and skilled Aerospace Flight Testing Specialist to enhance our flight test team. This position demands a comprehensive understanding of flight testing protocols for experimental CTOL/VTOL fly-by-wire aircraft. The successful candidate will be responsible for crafting detailed flight test strategies, participating as a crew member during test operations, and conducting thorough analyses of test data. This role is pivotal in both the development and certification phases of our flight testing initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement test programs to systematically expand the operational capabilities of our aircraft, guiding them from experimental stages to certification.
  • Oversee flight test planning, conduct flight readiness assessments, and facilitate flight briefings and debriefings while actively participating in test execution.
  • Analyze flight test data to support aircraft design and certification objectives.
  • Collaborate with various engineering teams to integrate expert insights into test planning and execution.
  • Serve as a vital member of the flight crew, monitoring real-time data to ensure the safety and integrity of flight tests.
  • Document and report on test outcomes, highlighting any discrepancies and compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Provide critical data insights to the flight test pilot to inform real-time safety and operational decisions.
  • Develop an in-depth understanding of the systems and aircraft being tested.
  • Manage administrative tasks related to testing, including configuration management and reporting.
  • Assist in troubleshooting and root cause analysis of issues encountered during flight tests.
  • Create flight manuals and necessary documentation to ensure safe operational practices.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in experimental flight testing as a Flight Test Engineer.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for effective communication across diverse technical teams.
  • Robust technical and analytical capabilities.
  • Able to work independently and collaboratively, with flexibility for extended hours and travel as necessary.
  • Proficient in reading and speaking English.
  • Willingness to travel frequently.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Graduate of a recognized test pilot school or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience in data analysis using tools such as Matlab or Python.
  • Familiarity with civil aircraft certification processes and FAA regulations.
  • Prior experience in experimental flight testing, particularly with VTOL or STOVL systems.
  • Certification as a Flight Analyst DER or ODA Unit Member.
  • Knowledge of FAA Order C.
