Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Fire Systems Technician to join our installation and commissioning team at Johnson Controls. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of installing, commissioning, and servicing fire alarm and related systems, with a strong focus on safety and quality.

Main Responsibilities

The main responsibilities of this role include:
  • Installing, programming, configuring, commissioning, and servicing fire alarm and related systems.
  • Working closely with project managers to address any discrepancies or coordination issues that may impact installation activities.
  • Coordinating installation activities with other trades to optimize installation time and attending all required site meetings.
  • Instructing and training customers on the functional operation of equipment/systems.
  • Conducting simulations and answering questions.
  • Providing exceptional customer service by consistently communicating with district staff and customers to ensure satisfaction.
  • Completing project documentation in a timely manner.
  • Ensuring adherence to all OSHA and SimplexGrinnell safety policies and procedures.
  • Participating in scheduled on-call rotations.

Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must possess the following qualifications:
  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Three years documented experience in low voltage electrical systems, including fire/life safety systems, access control, nurse call, and paging systems.
  • Experience in reading and interpreting blueprints, submittals, and operational/product manuals.
  • Ability to obtain and retain licenses as required by national, state, and local codes.
  • Capacity for physical labor, including carrying and moving equipment and tools up to 50-70 lbs.
  • Flexibility to work varied hours, including weekends, to meet customer requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide exceptional customer service and lead team members effectively.
  • Strong organizational skills, positive attitude, and ability to learn quickly.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license and driving record meeting company requirements.
  • Able to pass a pre-employment background and drug test.

Preferred Qualifications

NICET Level II certification, local state licenses, and knowledge of local fire codes are advantageous.
