At Vets Hired, we're seeking a highly skilled Police Dispatcher Instructor to join our team. As a key member of our Communications Division, you'll play a vital role in training and educating lower-level police dispatchers on the equipment and procedures necessary for effective emergency response.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Train and educate police dispatchers on equipment operation, call handling, and dispatch procedures.
  2. Document and evaluate trainee progress, identifying areas for improvement and suggesting training solutions.
  3. Provide technical assistance and support to dispatchers, ensuring they have the necessary skills and knowledge to handle emergency situations.
  4. Stay up-to-date on industry trends, policy updates, and best practices, implementing changes as needed to ensure our dispatchers are equipped to handle any situation.
  5. Oversee the implementation of policies and procedures for receiving and relaying information from field officers, ensuring accurate and timely communication.
  6. Monitor and track the performance of police dispatchers, ensuring they have the necessary resources and support to provide seamless service.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's degree or higher in a related field preferred.
  • Five years of experience in a related field, including instructor, TCOLE instructor, formal teacher, 911/emergency call-taker, police dispatcher, or TCIC/NCIC full operator and/or certified trainer.
  • Basic proficiency in Telecommunicator Certificate issued by the Texas Commission of Law Enforcement (TCOLE) within 12 months of employment.
  • Valid driver's license with a good driving record.
  • Ability to pass an intensive background investigation and drug test.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Presentation skills.
  • MS Office or similar software skills.
  • Knowledge of instructional and teaching methods, practices, and procedures.
  • Knowledge of program research and development techniques and procedures.
  • Knowledge of training program assessment instruments.
