Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Dietitian to join our interdisciplinary team as a Renal Nutrition Therapist. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in providing expert nutritional care to our patients with end-stage renal disease.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess patient knowledge and provide education on the relationship between diet and kidney disease, and its impact on treatment.
  • Provide education to patients, families, and caregivers on nutritional status, adequacy measures, and results, as well as fluid status and nutrition-related lab parameters.
  • Complete nutritional assessments and work with the interdisciplinary team to develop individualized comprehensive plans of care for patients.
  • Maintain accurate and complete medical records, including progress notes.
  • Provide ongoing assessment and counseling to assist patients in achieving and sustaining effective nutritional status.
  • Identify malnourished or at-risk patients and collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to identify appropriate interventions, resources, or solutions.
  • Monitor, adjust, and document response to nutrition therapy and address any issues impacting patient ability to achieve goals.
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team on Urea Kinetic Modeling recommendations to achieve physician-prescribed Kt/V.
  • Report on nutrition QAI results and participate in the interdisciplinary QAI program.
  • Review nutrition-related lab results, counsel patients and/or caregivers, and formulate appropriate action.
  • Recommend treatment changes to the interdisciplinary team as necessary.
  • Identify candidates for nutritional supplements and communicate with physicians and/or facility staff as needed.
  • Maintain dietetic registration and continuing education hours as specified by the American Dietetic Association and state licensure regulations, where applicable.
Requirements
  • Registered Dietitian as per Commission on Dietetic Registration.
  • Board Certified Specialist in Renal Nutrition encouraged.
  • Current state licensure, if applicable.
  • 1+ year experience in clinical nutrition as a Registered Dietitian.
  • Previous renal experience preferred.
Work Environment

Day-to-day work includes desk and personal computer work, and interaction with patients, facility staff, and physicians. The position requires travel between assigned facilities and various locations within the community. Travel to regional, Business Unit, and Corporate meetings may be required.

The work environment is characteristic of a healthcare facility with air temperature control and moderate noise levels. May be exposed to infectious and contagious diseases/materials.
