POSITION SUMMARY:
The Emergency Medical Technician B-IV is responsible for responding to emergency calls and facilitating patient transfers between facilities. This role involves delivering critical care and Basic Life Support in pre-hospital environments, as well as assisting in the emergency department when necessary.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensure personal and team safety while providing emergency care, including the ability to lift and transport patients safely.
- Engage in community outreach and educational initiatives, supporting ongoing training for staff and assisting with various EMS-related functions.
- Arrive for scheduled shifts punctually, participate in shift handovers, and maintain equipment inventory to ensure readiness for service.
- Respond to dispatch communications effectively, navigate to emergency scenes using maps and GPS, and adhere to traffic regulations.
- Assess patient conditions using established BLS protocols, prioritize care based on patient needs, and collaborate with Paramedic partners for advanced care when required.
- Document patient information and treatment accurately, ensuring continuity of care during hospital transfers.
- High School diploma or equivalent, with ongoing education requirements.
- Preferred experience of at least six months in a similar role.
- Valid EMT-B certification from the State of Colorado and a current driver's license.
- Certifications in Healthcare Provider CPR (BLS) and IV Certification are required; CPR Instructor certifications are a plus.
Hourly wage of $23.36, with an additional PRN differential of $3.00/hr.
