Job Summary

The Police Officer is a sworn officer responsible for maintaining law and order on hospital grounds, patrolling and protecting hospital buildings and grounds, and conducting administrative and criminal investigations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Patrol assigned areas in vehicle, by bicycle, and on foot to detect and deter crime.
  • Apprehend subjects committing crimes.
  • Respond to emergency calls, safety escorts, and calls for assistance.
  • Produce complete, accurate and concise reports, including but not limited to criminal offenses, false fire alarms, safety hazards and general information.
  • Serve in specialized units such as investigations, fire safety, crime prevention, and training as assigned and emergency management.
  • Complete initial investigations and follow-up investigations as assigned.
  • Participate in crime prevention strategies and special programs as assigned.
  • Enforce state laws, policies, procedures, and forward the mission of the organization.
  • Transport legal documents, valuables, medical instruments, supplies and other secure articles as assigned to ensure the safe and timely transfer of valued articles.

Requirements

  • Excellent interpersonal and public relations skills.
  • Ability to work under stressful conditions.
  • Able to balance multiple demands and respond to time constraints.
  • Able to work any shift for several locations throughout the system.
  • Critical thinking and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate thoughts clearly; both verbally and in writing.
  • Attain and maintain a minimum passing score of 80% accuracy during firearms qualification and requalification.
  • General computer skills, including but not limited to: using required software applications, data entry, information security, hand held scanning and email.
