We are seeking a highly skilled Surgical Technologist to join our team at Queen's Health System.
Responsibilities:
* Under the supervision of the Nurse Manager or designee, performs assigned surgical "scrub" duties and maintains sterile techniques for all surgical procedures.
* Prepares the patient, operating room, equipment, and instruments for surgery, maintaining aseptic techniques in accordance with nursing practice and standards of care.
* May be responsible for the assessment, treatment, or care of patients of all ages.
Typical Physical Demands:
* Essential: standing, walking, stooping/bending, twisting body, finger dexterity, seeing, hearing, speaking, lifting usual amount of 35 lbs up to 50 lbs, pushing/pulling usual amount of 50 pounds of force, carrying usual amount of 35 lbs, reaching above/at/below shoulder, repetitive arm/hand motions, static/frequent gripping of an object for prolonged periods.
Typical Working Conditions:
* Not substantially subjected to adverse environmental conditions.
* Exposed to chemicals, body fluids, communicable diseases.
Required Personal Protective Equipment:
* Eye protection, gown, mask, mask with face shield, non-sterile/sterile medical gloves, CAPR.
Minimum Qualifications:
* Completion of a certified Surgical Technologist, Operating Room Technician or comparable training program; or three (3) years experience as an OR Technician or Surgical Technologist in an acute care or outpatient setting.
* Association of Surgical Technologists Certification preferred.
* Current BLS/HCP CPR certification.
Experience:
* Strong organizational and self-motivational skills.
* Ability to deal with patients/visitors tactfully and courteously.
* Ability to work and maintain composure under constantly changing situations with numerous interruptions.
