Maintenance Specialist

The Monona Grove School District is seeking a qualified Custodian to serve as a floater for the district. This position is scheduled to work 40 hours per week with an expected schedule of Monday to Friday, 2:30 pm to 11 pm. The qualified candidate will be trained at the district's various school buildings and will be assigned to different sites based on the direction of the supervisor.

This is a support staff position that requires the ability to maintain positive communication and relations with staff, students, and the public. The successful candidate will have knowledge of all cleaning materials, problems, and procedures, as well as mechanical aptitude. They will be responsible for securing buildings and checking all mechanical areas as assigned, coordinating the set-up and take-down of special programs, and performing minor routine maintenance to the building and mechanicals.

This position is eligible for full benefits through Monona Grove School District and offers a competitive hourly rate. The ideal candidate will have experience in maintenance, grounds keeping, and cleaning of a medical, industrial, and/or educational facility. They will also need to be able to work under minimal supervision and have a valid driver's license.

Responsibilities:

• Secure buildings and check all mechanical areas as assigned.
• Check for proper use of building/rooms by groups issued permits to use facilities.
• Coordinate the set-up and take-down of special programs.
• Perform minor routine maintenance to the building and mechanicals, and report any problems to the building service employee.
• Perform custodial duties.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
• Attend work regularly.

Qualifications:

• Knowledge of all cleaning materials, problems, and procedures.
• Mechanical aptitude.
• Ability to maintain positive communication and relations with staff, students, and the public.
• Ability to lift heavy objects for an extended period.
• Ability to read and follow directions.
• Valid driver's license.
• Experience in maintenance, grounds keeping, and cleaning of a medical, industrial, and/or educational facility preferred.
• Ability to work under minimal supervision.
