Position: Civil Design Project Engineer (Civil3D)
Key Responsibilities:
- Draft and evaluate contract documents, designs, and specifications for civil engineering projects.
- Develop technical proposals, cost assessments, project plans, technical specifications, and comprehensive reports, including routine correspondence.
- Conduct site reviews and assessments during construction phases.
- Evaluate the feasibility and integrity of proposed civil and development features.
- Prepare site design calculations and lead the project team in execution.
- Perform a range of engineering analyses and calculations, utilizing engineering software as necessary.
- Create detailed designs and specify suitable construction materials.
- Oversee construction quality control services, conduct regular site visits, and review daily reports prepared by team members.
- Prepare and deliver project-specific or technical presentations to clients, technical organizations, and internal teams.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Site/Civil Design from an accredited institution.
- Completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering exam, EIT, or PE registration, or the ability to achieve professional registration in the State of Michigan within a specified timeframe is preferred.
- A minimum of 5 years of proven experience in site development, including site layout, grading, sewer and utility design, pavement design, permitting, budgeting, and agency interactions.
- PMP certification is an advantage.
- Ability to collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team on projects with minimal supervision.
- Proficiency in Civil3D and AutoCAD is essential; experience with the Infrastructure Suite is preferred.
- Experience with Hydrologic and Hydraulic Modeling software, including HEC-HMS, SWMM, and Storm and Sanitary Analysis.
- Ability to read, interpret, and prepare design drawings and specifications.
- Previous experience in an engineering consulting environment is preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills and strong interpersonal abilities for client and colleague interactions.
- Attention to detail, reliability, and excellent organizational skills.
- Capability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, delegate tasks effectively, and work collaboratively.
- Physical ability to lift and carry equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Willingness to enter and work in confined spaces, following appropriate training.
- At least 2 years of leadership experience in mentoring and guiding junior staff.
- Ability to compile technical materials into comprehensive reports and conduct QA/QC reviews of work products.
- Experience in project planning, budgeting, task delegation, and management to ensure project completion aligns with established work plans.
- Administrative responsibilities related to project invoicing and collections.
- Flexibility to perform job duties in both field and office settings during non-standard hours as needed.
- Possession of a valid driver's license and willingness to travel for fieldwork.
