Job Summary

This role supports the mission of the Rappahannock Area YMCA Inc. by delivering exceptional service to members, guests, and program participants. The successful candidate will be responsible for promoting memberships and programs, maintaining a clean and organized lobby area, and responding to member and guest needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide excellent service to members, guests, and program participants, contributing to member retention.
  • Conduct interviews and/or tours to promote memberships and programs.
  • Build relationships with members and help them connect with the YMCA.
  • Handle and resolve membership concerns and inform supervisors of unusual situations or unresolved issues.
  • Apply all YMCA policies related to member services.
  • Relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
  • May be responsible for handing out locker keys and towels, as well as monitoring locker rooms as required.

Qualifications
  • Certifications required within 30 days of hire: CPR/AED and First Aid.
  • Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
  • Previous customer service, sales, or related experience preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of computers.
  • Must be at least 16 years old.
  • Completes Praesidium within 7 days of hire date.
  • Previous experience with diverse populations preferred.
Work Environment and Physical Demands

The successful candidate will work in a fast-paced environment and will be required to:

  • Walk, stand, and sit for long periods of time.
  • Stand or sit while maintaining alertness for several hours at a time.
  • Bend, lean, kneel, and walk as required.
  • Speak concisely and effectively communicate.
  • View/enter data for long periods of time.
