The Director, Recycling Operations is a key leadership position responsible for overseeing the strategic direction and day-to-day operations of the Recycling Operations department at Schnitzer Steel Industries Inc. Key Responsibilities- Develop and Execute Strategic Plans: Establish and execute a strategic plan to drive profitability and growth in the Recycling Operations department.
- Manage Day-to-Day Operations: Oversee the day-to-day activities of the Recycling Operations department, ensuring that all operations are conducted in a safe and efficient manner.
- Lead and Develop Direct Reports: Provide leadership and guidance to direct reports, including Regional General Managers, to ensure that they are equipped to achieve their goals and objectives.
- Ensure Compliance and Safety: Ensure that all operations are conducted in compliance with company policies and procedures, as well as all relevant laws and regulations.
- Communicate with Stakeholders: Communicate with AMR management, Regional Health and Safety Engineer(s), Regional Environmental Manager(s), and other stakeholders to ensure that all parties are informed and aligned with the department's goals and objectives.
- Drive Continuous Improvement: Develop and implement a continuous improvement plan to drive efficiency and effectiveness in the Recycling Operations department.
- Leadership Experience: Proven leadership experience in a similar role, with a strong track record of driving profitability and growth.
- Strategic Thinking: Ability to develop and execute strategic plans that drive business results.
- Operational Management: Experience in managing day-to-day operations, with a strong focus on safety and compliance.
- Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders.
- Continuous Improvement: Ability to drive continuous improvement and efficiency in the Recycling Operations department.
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, or a related field. Minimum 10 years of experience in a similar role, with a strong track record of driving profitability and growth.
