Job Summary

The Residential Home Coordinator is a key member of our team at The Arc Otsego, responsible for overseeing the operations and maintenance of our facilities. This role requires a strong leader who can direct staff, formulate policies, and analyze expenditures to ensure the smooth running of our programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Directs operations and maintenance of facilities, including building and grounds.
  • Confer with staff to formulate and institute policies and procedures of operations.
  • Compile and analyze expenditures and project costs, and prepares reports to communicate status.
  • Assists in preparation of budget and monitors expenditures.
  • Ensures accurate and timely direct care staff payroll.
  • Ensures subordinate employees are competent in various tasks, including vehicle usage, physical plant monitoring, payroll reports, personnel management, and other related skill development areas.
  • Ensures implementation of Agency and Quality Improvement plan.
  • Serves as rotating On-call Administrator.
  • Schedules and conducts meetings with Home Managers to convey information and improve their effectiveness.
  • Ensures each program site does not exceed Full Time Equivalency (FTE) unless prior approved or for training purposes.
  • Ensures all direct care staff receive required training for job responsibilities.
  • Maintains admission protocols and packets of information.
  • Maintains current Plans of Protective Oversight for sites requiring these plans.
  • Ensures thorough investigation and processing of staff accidents in a timely manner.
  • Assists Home Managers in effective implementation of job responsibilities.
  • Serves as agency investigator.
  • Serves as member of committee as required or requested.
  • Requires three-week notice for resignation of employment.
Supervisory Responsibilities

Substantial direct and indirect supervisory responsibilities, with subordinate supervisors and staff reporting to the Residential Home Coordinator.

Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Reasoning Skills

To perform the job successfully, an individual must be able to demonstrate the following competencies: sound decision making and judgment, interpersonal skills, planning/organizing, strategic thinking, time management, and delegating.

Language Skills

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or board of directors.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commission, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply ideas of basic algebra and geometry.

Computer Skills

Must be knowledgeable about Internet software, Microsoft Office components, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Becomes knowledgeable and trained in the use of Therap for plan writing, event reporting, and ongoing communication.

Certifications, Licenses, Registrations

Must possess a valid NYS driver's license and an acceptable driving record. Successful completion of behavior intervention techniques, CPR/First Aid, Medication Administration Certification, and all other required training.

Mental Requirements

Able to analyze and resolve routine human resource issues of moderate scope using independent judgment. Ability to prioritize work and keep detailed, accurate, confidential information. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Independent Judgment Required

Requires discretion and independent judgment in the interpretation of approved policies and methods in relation to personnel on a day-to-day basis for all employees with long and short-term implications and actively involved with administration in making recommendations for personnel policies and procedures.

Interpersonal Skills Required

Very high degree of interpersonal skills to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and the public, including tact to handle sensitive matters. Must be able to deal with personnel matters in a confidential, objective, professional manner.
