About This Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled Mammography Imaging Specialist to join our team at Summit Health. As a key member of our diagnostic imaging team, you will be responsible for producing high-quality mammography images while ensuring the safety of patients and colleagues.

Responsibilities

  1. Follow physicians' orders precisely and adhere to regulations concerning radiation use to protect yourself, patients, and coworkers from unnecessary exposure.
  2. Verify proper patient identification on the study and route it to the PACS system.
  3. Maintain a daily log of patients seen and operate equipment to produce high-quality images.
  4. Obtain essential information from patients, medical records, and previous scans for clinical correlation.
  5. Prepare and assist patients for mammographic imaging as requested by a physician.
  6. Provide patient care with dignity and respect for the individual.
  7. Educate patients about the procedures to be performed.
  8. Obtain optimum quality images through proper anatomical positioning and other required techniques in accordance with protocols.
  9. Observe and follow safety procedures, including radiation protection and universal precautions.
  10. Perform daily checks and weekly quality assurance, completing all documentation as necessary.
  11. Conduct quality control checks on equipment and report deficiencies to proper personnel.
  12. Work independently and demonstrate flexibility in work assignments.
  13. Demonstrate commitment to total quality management and service excellence.
  14. Stay up-to-date with changes in technology and safety protocols.
  15. Process studies onto CD or film format for patient requests while maintaining HIPAA compliance.
  16. Maintain equipment and working area cleanliness.
  17. Be familiar with emergency drug and equipment locations.
  18. Familiarize yourself with departmental systems, including booking, scheduling, duplication, and PACS.
  19. Maintain professional and technical knowledge through training and continuing education.
  20. Develop a strong understanding of human anatomy and cross-sectional anatomy, proper positioning skills, and protocol utilization.
  21. Stay knowledgeable about routine procedures and applications.
  22. Maintain regulatory standards of MQSA and ACR.
  23. Meet continuing education and professional licensing requirements set by the New York State Department of Health and the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
  24. Promote and adhere to WMG policies, rules, and regulations.
  25. Perform related duties as needed or assigned.
  26. Candidates will be cross-trained to perform applicable modalities to meet department needs.

Required Qualifications

  1. New York State License and ARRT Certification with Mammography modality.
  2. Maintain superior diagnostic imaging in accordance with standardized procedures.
  3. Exhibit excellent patient and people skills.
  4. Develop a strong understanding of human anatomy and cross-sectional anatomy, proper positioning skills, and protocol utilization.
  5. Stay knowledgeable about routine procedures and applications.
  6. Meet continuing education and professional licensing requirements set by the New York State Department of Health and the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
