The Radiographic Technologist/Phlebotomist position is a dynamic role that requires the professional to perform a variety of technical procedures for radiologic diagnosis and assists physicians in selection of practical applications and technical factors. The incumbent also draws blood and collects specimens for testing, enabling doctors to make informed diagnoses.

- Select, set, and adjust proper techniques to the patient’s physical condition, patient size, patient age, or suspected pathology.
- Perform necessary clerical work by assuring proper scheduling, correct exam, prior authorization, obtaining prior report/scan, patient lab values, and review of clinic notes.
- Follow physicians’ orders and radiologist protocols.
- Position, transfer, and properly immobilize patients as required.
- Comfort patients by anticipating patient’s anxieties; answering patient’s questions.
- Assist Radiologist and other physicians in the performance of biopsies and interventional procedures.
- Assume responsibility for sterile technique procedure and contrast required by radiologist.
- Assist physicians and prepare supplies and special trays.
- Monitor the condition of the patients within the department and assist the radiologist or other provider in performing needed medical attention such as first aid or BLS.
- Process, view, and approve the technical quality of each film with QA guidelines, pertinent to patient/procedures to obtain optimal images for diagnosis.
- Exercise responsibility for the maintenance and accuracy of facility reports, database records and logs.
- Maintain a safe and clean environment.
- Assume responsibility for proper and efficient operation of all equipment.
- Recognize potential equipment problems of malfunction and notify pertinent team members.
- Order and maintain adequate supplies.
- Assist with orientation and ongoing education for employees, students, and other health care professionals within the department.
- Determine qualifications who use equipment and administer procedures under the direction of the Radiologists.
- Send out all pathology and cytology, bone marrow biopsies, and fine needle aspirates.
- Review and input patients’ demographics for pathology. Review and print pathology reports and input histology charges as they come in.
- Order tests and prepare them to standards.
- Check lab orders to make sure orders are correct, confirm physicians on the orders, and make changes if any are needed.
- Perform venipuncture blood draws, heel sticks, and finger pokes; verify patients’ information, do drug screens, do breathalyzers, and keep phlebotomist updated with changes and new protocols.

- Two-year degree in radiography required.
- 1+ years related work experience preferred.
- Must hold and maintain ARRT certification.
- Must hold and maintain radiography license from the state of Wisconsin.
- Intermediate to expert proficiency with computers is required.
- Requires assessment, evaluation, and decision-making skills.
- Knowledge of radiography, phlebotomy, and lab safety.
- Exceptional accuracy and attention to detail required.
- Maintains compliance with continuing education requirements through professional journals, on the job training, and other educational opportunities.
