Overview:
Join our team as an Automotive Technician, where you will play a crucial role in maintaining and repairing our fleet of transportation vehicles. This position requires a combination of experience and knowledge in automotive or diesel mechanics.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of one (1) to two (2) years of verified experience in automotive or diesel mechanics, which may include high school mechanics courses or participation in a regional occupational program.
- A comprehensive understanding of all systems present in fleet transportation vehicles.
Component/System Expertise:
- Proficient in Air Conditioning, Brakes, Engine, Transmission, Suspension and Steering, Electrical, Fuel, Lubrication, and Differentials.
- Familiarity with the fundamentals of Preventive Maintenance Procedures.
- Knowledge of proper safety equipment usage at all times.
Education and Licenses:
- High School diploma or GED is required.
- A valid driver's license is mandatory.
- Experience with diagnostic computer equipment is essential.
- Ability to understand the design, adjustment, and overhaul of medium to heavy-duty braking systems.
Skills:
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills to troubleshoot technical issues and communicate solutions effectively.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to document diagnostic information for management.
- Detail-oriented with strong time management and organizational abilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Diagnose and repair coaches, focusing on complex issues such as ADA equipment, air conditioning, brakes, chassis, cooling systems, engines, and more.
- Conduct both in-house and road call repairs using various tools.
- Perform upgrades and modifications on coach systems as per manufacturer recommendations or client requests.
- Utilize computer diagnostic equipment to troubleshoot electrical functions and analyze coach problems.
Preventive Maintenance:
- Conduct preventative maintenance inspections based on mileage and time, ensuring all systems are functioning correctly.
- Complete work orders detailing parts and labor.
Corrective Maintenance:
- Inspect and verify issues using diagnostic equipment.
- Clean, repair, and replace coach equipment as necessary.
- Maintain detailed documentation for repairs and installations.
