This role entails working as a Bulk Raw Material Driver at Baker Commodities, a leader in the cattle and dairy sectors, focusing on the collection and recycling of animal by-products. This critical function not only safeguards the environment but also mitigates disease and supplies necessary materials for various industries.

Compensation Package:

  • Signing Bonus: Eligible for a $7,500 signing bonus, distributed over the first 15 months.
  • Hourly Wage: $26.00 per hour.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Inspect vehicles to ensure all mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in optimal condition.
  • Gather delivery instructions from relevant sources and confirm routes.
  • Operate assigned vehicles along designated routes.
  • Adhere to safety protocols while transporting goods.
  • Report any vehicle defects, accidents, or traffic violations.
  • Maintain accurate logs of working hours, vehicle service, and repair status in compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Document information such as weight, mileage, time, and fuel consumption.
  • Utilize GPS navigation and communication devices to relay information to supervisors.
  • Adjust routes based on real-time conditions to enhance fuel efficiency.
  • Load and unload materials using specialized equipment as necessary.
  • Engage with others in a professional and ethical manner.
  • Follow company policies and procedures diligently.
  • Maintain regular attendance and punctuality, essential for operational efficiency.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to ensure effective business operations.

Qualifications:

  • Possession of a valid Class A license and current DOT medical certification.
  • Must be at least 21 years old to comply with federal regulations.
  • Required endorsements (tanker and doubles) based on the assigned vehicle.
  • A minimum of 2 years of commercial driving experience with a satisfactory MVR.
  • Ability to complete an Entry Level Driver program if less than 2 years of experience.
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Proficiency in reading and speaking English as mandated by the Federal Motor Carrier Department.
  • Understanding of DOT and FMCSA regulations.
  • Knowledge of transportation and safety principles for road goods movement.
  • Skill in operating and monitoring vehicles and equipment.
  • Willingness to work overtime and adjust schedules as required.
  • Local travel with minimal overnight stays (less than 5%).

Physical Requirements:

Constantly (over 2/3):

  • Remain seated while operating the vehicle.
  • Monitor equipment functionality.
  • Ascend and descend from vehicles and equipment.

Frequently (1/3-2/3):

  • Communicate with coworkers, customers, and supervisors.
  • Lift, push, and pull materials weighing up to 60 lbs.
  • Engage in physical activities such as walking, climbing, and handling equipment.
  • Operate electronic devices including GPS and communication tools.

Occasionally (under 1/3):

  • Work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Handle materials requiring personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Navigate wet or uneven surfaces.
  • Complete logs and reports both electronically and manually.
